Evaluation of the Physicochemical Properties and Antiaging Properties of Bitumen Mastic Modified by Layered Double Hydroxides

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) can shield polymeric materials from UV light, which allows reducing material aging and erosion damage of bituminous pavement under physical chemical action. In this study, the physicochemical properties, resistance, resistance to aqueous solution LDHs modified bitumen mastic (BM) were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, basic tests, viscosity a dynamic shear rheometer, bending beam rheometer. The results show that few reactions occurred between BM, indicating mechanism underlay modification BM LDHs. Moreover, could increase flow activation energy 0.12%, high failure temperature 69.07 °C 71.07 °C, decrease low −10.50 −12.39 °C. Therefore, slightly reduce sensitivity while enhancing low-temperature rheological properties BM. Compared with short-term long-term aging, significantly improve above are consistent previous studies LDHs-modified bitumen. Furthermore, water pH 3 acidic solutions had greatest degree solutions. Overall, study help investigate effects various environmental factors on performance pavements during use.
